Comp Card: Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a model I recently photographed. She was up from Gainesville to update her pictures and get a new comp card.

She did a great job in front of the camera. The hardest part of the whole shoot was deciding which images to use for her card.

Thanks again to Jackie Neal for the great makeup work!

I’m torn between the black & white and color image above. Which one do you prefer?

Bridal: Sister Sister!

Hannah and Rachel are a pair of sisters that had weddings within months of each other and thought it would be fun to do their bridal shoots together. We had so much fun and spent all day going around the city to different locations.

I had been waiting to post these until both sisters had their weddings. Since I just finished photographing Hannah’s wedding earlier this evening I can finally post the bridal shoot pictures of them!

I always love working with Jackie Neal, who did the makeup. She always brings great energy to my shoots. Thanks also to Hannah & Rachel’s mom Amelia for keeping things so lively and exciting the whole time.

Back from San Francisco

I’m sorry if I’ve been hard to get in touch with lately. I just got back from a trip to San Francisco last week.

While I was there I had the opportunity to meet with the super-talented San Francisco-based Destination Wedding Photographer Gene Higa for one of his One-on-One Workshops. It was an amazing full day of business discussion and mentoring. Thanks so much, Gene!

I also got a chance to eat some great food, visit the Museum of Modern Art, see some family, and take some engagement pictures for my cousin and her fiance getting married next month in Las Vegas.

It was a little crazy near the hotel, the W San Francisco, because of the baseball all-star game activities. It was also cold — like in the 50s with wind. I wasn’t expecting that.

If you get the chance I highly recommend staying at the W in San Francisco. It has a Bliss Spa and Bliss beauty products in your room (I couldn’t help grabbing a few extra Bliss Face Wash bottles). It’s got a great lobby for hanging out in the evening and the upper-floor rooms have an awesome view of the Yerba Buena Gardens. They also have W-branded Chinese checkers and cool pillows…

Wedding: Lana & Blake

Ceremony: First United Methodist Church, Williston, FL
Reception: Bride’s family property

Lana and Blake’s wedding is one I will always remember!

Lana’s stunning dress, the bridesmaids in theirs, the deep red interior of the church, and the most incredible wedding reception tent I’ve ever seen in person made the day an unforgettable affair.

Kind of like Lana’s bridal shoot, where the dress didn’t make it from Williston until hours later, the wedding day crisis involved a very similar situation — this time with the groom’s tuxedo.

Someone at the store where Blake’s tux was supposed to be decided to put it in a completely different place than the other ones, so when one of the groomsmen picked up the suits everyone got their tuxes except the groom!

Disaster was averted after one of the groomsmen rushed back to Gainesville to pick up Blake’s tux and the guys were able to finally go over to the church.

After the ceremony, Blake chauffeured his new wife to the reception held at her parents’ property on the outskirts of Williston.

And what a reception it was!

Over 400 guests were accommodated in a gigantic tent complete with comfortable seating areas, beautiful centerpieces, and mint juleps to celebrate the running of the Kentucky Derby.

Lana & Blake were a great couple to photograph and I am so excited every time I see the pictures from their wedding and Lana’s bridal session.

I’m hard at work on their album. It looks like the hardest part will be deciding what not to include!
